Target beauty box review. March 2016

So, it’s been a little bit since I received this box and I have been using most of it. This is a normal thing for me. These boxes go fast, so having a site to let you know when it goes on sale is important.

This month came with eight products. One was a fool packet of shampoo and conditioner. Another was a repeat from a couple months ago. I don’t want to say it is a regular thing, but to only skip one month and then return to a certain product is a little sad to me. Otherwise, there was a good selection again.

Hair Food Mousture Shampoo and Conditioner- foil packets

This product is listed as paraben, silicone (for the shampoo), and mineral oil free. Unfortunately, I have no intent on using it. This is going to a coworker who I am making a hospital kit for. It is something she won’t have to worry if it gets tossed after one use.

Not Your Mother’s Texturizing Sea Salt Spray

i am not a fan of sea salt sprays. My hair cares nothing for them. Or maybe my hair is just wavy enough that it doesn’t need it. Anyway, it does have a nice coconut smell that reminds me of the beach (or at least the sunscreen on the beach).

SinfulColors Nail Color in Lie-Lac

I first found this product in, of all places, the local dollar store. It is a light lavender color. I have given up on longevity of colors without chips, but remember to always use a good base and top coat with it.

Caress Adore Forever Body Wash

This is what was repeated. Still not impressed. That is all.

Banana Boat Sun Comfort SPF30

Summer must be coming! We have sunscreen! Ok, I will stop while I’m ahead. As in the past, I am still a dork about sunscreen and using it on a regular basis. Seriously, people, just do it.

You are Amazing Juicy Grapefruit Body Lotion

Yes, this smells like grapefruit. Red grapefruit. It also is the longest in taking to sink in, which is a good thing for me. I wish it had a different scent, but it isn’t bad.

Laniege Water Sleeping Mask

This is a nice addition for night for me. My skin is still quite soft after using it.

Nugg Deep Hydration Mask

I haven’t used it yet only because of people being sick and my not having time. There is only enough for one use, so I plan on saving it for a special event.

So, in the end, it was worth the cost and I may get some of it after trying.

Random PSA

They stuck a swab and almost made me throw up. Yes, my throat was very tender. No call to see if it’s strep. So, I’m thinking not. Their answer: rest up(hah) and keep with what I’ve been doing. But, the reason why is here.

Ginger. I was looking at the screen they have and the random facts that show up and that stuck out at me. Why, you ask. Because the tea I’ve been drinking is a ginger and lemon tea. The screen said that ginger and vitamin c were both good for improving the immune system.

So, thoughts from it. Do a cup of ginger tea. Even if ginger is only part of it, it could help. There are many companies that offer ginger as a part of their tea selection. You can also make your own. That is what the Internet is for. Or, perhaps you would prefer some pickled ginger. Honestly, I could spend a fortune on that and gobble it all down. My one friend laughs at me over sushi because I have been known to ask for extra ginger and wasabi and eat the two as a dessert for me.

Ginger has a moment of sweet heat. It can be a pain to peel. It is woody and knobby. If you ask my kids, it is the evil stick. But, it can be nice in the right form. The right form is different from person to person. My recommendation: try all the ways possible and find your favorite.

Do it as another way to stay healthy.

Day 4 post for Class- Bliss

Molly showing bliss for a moment.

Molly in bed

Me, still sick. Dealing with it. I have Nurse Molly as long as I don’t cough too much. And still no voice. So, no work for me. I’m all yuck.

But, today’s theme is bliss. Nurse Molly, maybe a bad nickname for her, seems to personify it best to me. From her relaxing and purring, to the flex and release of her claws at her happiest, she shows signs of bliss over the simplest things. Mostly, curling up next to me. Petting her makes the bliss go away but still tolerable. She also loves coming up with a dead mouse.

But, she’s so skittish around the Guinea pig, whose idea of bliss is a fresh handful of hay and sweet peppers. Everyone’s idea is different. Mine changes from day to day. Right now, bliss is sleep. Guess why?

I am not doing today’s photo. I have a specific shot in mine but I’m unable to take it because I went from fine to lost my voice and super sore throat in less than 12 hours. So, I am worn out from this and not wanting to do anything. The kids are getting burgers out of this. Me? I will make some miso soup and maybe add some tofu and soba noodles for a light dinner. I have a box to review today. That actually may get done; we will see.

I am living on tea with honey and throat drop as liquid. I’m on to decaf for the rest of the night. Perhaps later will be the sickly perfume. This is known as Vicks. I really don’t like to be sick. But, worse is when I am sick and no voice. Hopefully, it comes back tomorrow.

That is all for now.

Photo 101 street day 2

So, today is about street. This time, I played around and decided on a different street. Humans aren’t the only ones who use the same path to form a street. So, I changed my thought to the animals that cross the road. This was me trying to show their road from their perspective. I took a few shots and decided on this one in the end. imageThis is where the animals cross from one side of the woods to the other. Yes, those are straight rows of trees. Originally, the trees were from tree farms. So, this is the result from those years. But, deer and pheasants and turkeys and foxes run there most evenings. So, the reminder is for people to slow down there in the evening.

Added to that, lots of people find lots of farm animals loose during the spring to fall. Best was the draft horse walking down the road. Yes, walking. We’ve had steers break loose and the sheriffs called. Joys of country living.

Day 1 for class

It seems that all the times I want to put up a text, they pile on me. So, this got put on the sidelines. Again. And add in that the main internet connection keeps failing. So, every trifecta has happened. Let’s hope the future doesn’t work like this.

So, today’s theme is home. For me, it means more like this: never ending laundry and other cleaning. This made me wonder about why it always feels that way. It gave me a realization. I’m taking care of everyone else and still putting myself second. Why? Because I don’t want to deal with the stress from certain other people over having to fight for any help.

Home is never a good word for me. I always thought it should be a happy place, but reality says different. It can be a struggle and a balancing act. Too much of one or another is a bad thing. So, I practice patience at home around chaos.
